OPEN DIE FORGING PROCESS


We have been recognized all across India as the pioneers in conducting the Open Die Forging Process in India. This process is of four types, first being the Impression Die Forging, Second is Cold Forging, third Open Die Forging Process and Seamless Rolled Ring Forging. The Open Die Forging Process usually involves the shaping of heated metal parts between a top die attached to a hammer anvil or press bed. Here the metal parts are worked above their recrystallization temperatures and are then gradually shaped into the desired configuration through proper hammering and pressing of the work pieces. In the Open Die Forging Process, when the impression confines the metal in dies, open die forging is distinguished by the fact that the metal has never been restrained in the dies.

We mostly produce the open die forgings on flat dies in this process. We however use round swaging dies, V-dies, Mandrels, Pins and loose tools based on the desired part configuration and its size. We have bars, blanks, rings, hollows or spindles or other simpler shaped parts that are mostly associated with the Open Die Forging Process. But however, the Open Die Forging Process can be considered the ultimate option in “custom designed” metal components. This process has today become so indispensable that we can find many such shapes that were thought to be impossible. Today’s Open Die Forging Process is capable of optimizing high strength, long life parts in terms of both mechanical properties and structural integrity.
